India suffered a brief injury scare during the Women’s World Cup 2025 match against Pakistan in Colombo, as Shree Charani appeared to hurt herself while fielding off Deepti Sharma’s bowling.
The incident occurred in the 24th over when Sidra Amin swept the ball powerfully in front of square. Charani made an excellent effort, sprinting across and diving full-length to her left to save two runs. However, the impact of the dive seemed to have taken a toll — she was seen clutching her chest and soon went down in visible discomfort.
Physios rushed to the field, and after a brief assessment, Charani walked off holding her chest, prompting concern in the Indian camp.
At the time of the incident, Pakistan Women were 81/3 after 24 overs, with Sidra Amin (37 off 66) and Natalia Pervaiz (27 off 34) rebuilding the innings with a 55-run stand for the fourth wicket.
The Indian team will be hoping that Charani’s injury isn’t serious, as her fielding has been a key part of India’s defense in this crucial group-stage encounter.
