Dubai — India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav turned the spotlight beyond cricket on Sunday after guiding his side to a 7-wicket win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025. Speaking at the presentation, Yadav dedicated the victory to the families of those affected by the Pahalgam terror attack and expressed solidarity with India’s armed forces.

“It’s a great feeling and a perfect return gift to India,” Yadav said, as the crowd chanted birthday wishes for him. “But more importantly, on this occasion I want to take the time out to stand by the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. This win is for our armed forces who showed immense bravery. We hope to keep inspiring them and make them smile whenever we get an opportunity on the field.”

India, chasing 128, eased to 131/3 in 15.5 overs, with Yadav finishing the game unbeaten and striking a six to seal the contest. Earlier, Pakistan were restricted to 127/9 as Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel spun through the middle order.

While the emphatic victory extended India’s dominance in the Asia Cup, Yadav’s heartfelt message ensured that cricket was not the only talking point of the night.
