On Sunday, December 18th, the Indian cricket team defeated Bangladesh in the first Test match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The Test match concluded on the fifth and final day. On the final day, the Indian bowlers finished the match in just 50 minutes.
At the start of the day, India needed four wickets to win, while Bangladesh needed 241 runs. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan tried hard to counter-attack Indian bowlers but was eventually dismissed by spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Shakib scored 84 runs and was Bangladesh’s second highest scorer in the second innings.
Rohit Sharma did not play in the Test series opener against Bangladesh in Chattogram, which India won by an emphatic 188-run margin to take an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Rohit had injured his thumb and was ruled out of the match, with KL Rahul taking his place.
According to sources close to ANI, Rohit has gone for rehabilitation and will be ready for the second Test match in Bangladesh. Due to a thumb injury sustained in the second ODI, Rohit missed the third and final ODI, as well as the first Test, against Bangladesh.
With Rohit Sharma returning for the second Test, Team India will have to work hard with the playing XI because current opener Shubman Gill performed well in the first Test and Cheteshwar Pujara was irreplaceable after his match performance in both innings. KL Rahul, as vice captain, and Virat Kohli’s experience will not allow them to be benched for Rohit Sharma.
Because Rohit Sharma usually bats fifth or sixth down in the Test format, Axar Patel, who turned the tables in the final innings of the first Test, may have to make way for the Indian skipper.
