IND vs AUS: Ravindra Jadeja breaks Kapil Dev’s epic record

In the first Test match between India and Australia in Nagpur, Ravindra Jadeja maintained his excellent form by smashing a brilliant half-century on Friday. With a five-wicket haul on Day 1, Jadeja was the star destroyer for the home team. With the fifty, he surpassed India legend Kapil Dev to claim a significant record. Jadeja now leads the list of Indian players with a similar milestone to their names, with Kapil having accomplished the feat four times in his career, after taking five wickets and scoring fifty in a Test match for the fifth time.

At stumps on the second day of the first Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium here on Friday, India had amassed 321 runs at the loss of seven wickets thanks to the century by Rohit Sharma and unbeaten half-centuries from Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel.

Later in the game, Jadeja was joined at the wicket by Axar Patel, and the pair helped the team surpass the 250-run mark. Jadeja, a comeback player, also reached fifty.

India increased their lead past the 100-run mark with the help of the Jadeja-Patel pairing, bringing their total up to 277. The two ran together for more than 50 runs as a team.

India’s 300-run milestone increased the pressure on Australia. Axar continued to score, reaching fifty runs, as India finished the day with 321 runs for 7 wickets and a 144-run advantage.
