The BCCI Selection Committee, under the direction of Shiv Sundar Das, was assigned to choose the team for the remaining Test matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, along with ODI squad. The Border Gavaskar Trophy’s final two Test matches and the three-match ODI series squads was chosen by the committee’s four members. After the Ranji Trophy Final was supposed to be the selection meeting.

India has selected left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat for the ODI against Australia before hosting the World Cup at home. Left-arm spinning all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, as well as middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer, are also back in the 18-man squad.

Rohit Sharma, who will be unavailable due to family obligations for the first ODI, will be missed by India, the BCCI announced in a release. Rohit will be replaced as the team’s captain by Hardik Pandya.

The team for the New Zealand series last month included players like Shahbaz Ahmed and Rajat Patidar; they have been left out. KL Rahul also returns, replacing KS Bharat, but he isn’t the team’s official vice-captain this time.
