India rested Mohammad Shami and replaces him with Umesh Yadav in the third test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
The return of Umesh Yadav in the starting 11 is significant as the player lost his father last week. The hosts have made some changes, with KL Rahul replaced by Shubman Gill.
Umesh has been counted upon regularly in the past to deliver in-home conditions. Since the start of 2017, no pacer has taken more wickets than Umesh’s 65 in Indian conditions, and his strike rate of 37.8 in the period is second only to Shami.
