On the second day of play between India and Australia at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, KL Rahul made a costly mistake in his attention span. Rahul appeared to be unaware of the ball while fielding at fine-leg, costing the opposition a costly boundary.

Usman Khawaja was batting and Ravindra Jadeja was bowling in the sixth over of Australia’s inning. Australia took an aggressive stance in an effort to regain the upper hand, and Khawaja took a calculated risk by playing a shot towards midwicket. Many people, including his own teammates, believed that Rahul would take the catch because he was nearby.

To the surprise of the audience, Rahul failed to see the ball as it sailed past him and was left completely perplexed as it crossed the boundary line. Fortunately, India was not severely penalised for the oversight because Jadeja dismissed Khawaja with the very next delivery. After Rahul’s error, India witnessed a stroke of genius on the field when Shreyas Iyer made a spectacular catch.
