In a high-pressure group stage encounter of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, New Zealand Women won the toss and elected to bowl first against India Women at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Both teams are tied on four points each, making this a virtual knockout as the winner will move closer to a semifinal berth.
India made one change to their lineup, with Jemimah Rodrigues replacing Amanjot Kaur, as confirmed by captain Harmanpreet Kaur at the toss. “The pitch is looking really good and it’s a great opportunity to put up a good total on the board. Jemi is in for Amanjot. We’ve been playing good cricket but the results haven’t gone our way. We’re getting starts but haven’t converted them; today is a great opportunity to make it count for the team,” Harmanpreet said.
Meanwhile, New Zealand captain Sophie Devine opted to chase under lights, citing dew as a key factor. “We are going to have a bowl first today. The surface won’t change much and hopefully gets better under lights. Dew will also come in. We’ve trained exceptionally hard for moments like this — a pressure game against India in India,” Devine said.
