“I think we can manage without Dhoni” says Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra

The former Indian cricketer has a view that MS Dhoni might not be interested to return to play.

MS Dhoni, who will turn 40 in July next year, has not played international cricket since the World Cup 2019. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan mentioned the presence of MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2021 and probably in 2022 as well.

Chennai Super Kings captain is gearing up for IPL 2020 which is set to be held in the UAE from September 19. Talking of seeing him in future matches, some have raised eyebrows in doubt on his effectiveness in play due to the age factor. “I think we can manage without him, let’s be honest. Because we are talking about 2021,” Aakash Chopra said on his Youtube channel.

While on the other hand, former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson told TOI in an interview, “MS still loves playing. He is an evergreen cricketer and it feels like he just doesn’t age. Look, with the kind of skills he has and the hard yards he puts in, MS can go on and play into his 40s.”
