Rare dismissals return to spotlight
Angkrish Raghuvanshi joined a short and unusual list in IPL history. Before him, Yusuf Pathan, Amit Mishra and Ravindra Jadeja had been given out obstructing the field.
This time it came off Prince Yadav’s ball, Raghuvanshi tapped to mid-on, set off, and turned back after Cameron Green sent him back. Mohammed Shami’s throw struck him as he dived, triggering the appeal and review.
What the law says, and the grey area
The law is clear in wording but tricky in judgement. A batter is out if he wilfully obstructs or distracts the fielding side. The key word is intent. The third umpire felt Raghuvanshi changed his running line while watching the ball, and that movement was enough to count as obstruction. But was there a realistic alternative path while turning back? That remains the central question.
Mohsin Khan’s five-for breaks the game
Mohsin Khan produced the first five-wicket haul of IPL 2026, finishing with 5 for 23 and ripping through KKR. He removed Tim Seifert for 0, Ajinkya Rahane for 10, Rovman Powell for 1, Cameron Green for 34 and Anukul Roy for 0. His lengths were tight, his pace varied, and he rarely missed. It was a complete spell that left KKR chasing the game early.
KKR slid to 81 for 6 in 13 overs.
Rinku Singh and Ramandeep Singh were left to rebuild.
