Mohsin Khan’s five-for rips through KKR

Mohsin Khan produced the defining spell of the night, finishing with 5 for 23 to break Kolkata Knight Riders early and decisively. He struck in his first over, removing Tim Seifert for a duck with a simple catch in the ring. He returned to dismiss Ajinkya Rahane, who miscued a slower ball to mid-off, and then had Rovman Powell gloving a short ball behind.

In his final over, Mohsin ended any recovery. Cameron Green fell attempting to take him on, picking out the keeper, and Anukul Roy chipped a simple catch to seal the five-wicket haul. It is the first five-for of Indian Premier League 2026, and easily the most complete new-ball spell this season.

He missed the whole IPL 2025 due to injury, LSG backed him, helped financially for surgery & they are getting the reward with performance from Mohsin.

KKR collapse continues

KKR’s problems with the top order showed again. They slipped to 31 for 3 in the powerplay and never recovered, eventually slumping to 73 for 6 in 11 overs. Seifert, Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi were all gone early, followed by Powell.

Raghuvanshi’s dismissal came via obstruction, while Green’s brief counterattack ended just as it began to look steady. Roy fell first ball. Only Rinku Singh has managed to hold one end, but with little support. It is another familiar slide for a side that has struggled for starts throughout the season.

Controversy adds to the damage

The dismissal of Raghuvanshi triggered the main flashpoint. Given out obstructing the field after changing his line during a run-out attempt, the decision drew visible frustration from the KKR dugout.

Assistant coach Abhishek Nayar had a prolonged exchange with the fourth umpire, while Raghuvanshi himself lingered before walking off. The call came at a point when KKR were already under pressure, and it only deepened the sense of a side losing control early.

A spell to please Bharat Arun

For Lucknow Super Giants, this was a performance built around discipline with the new ball. Mohsin’s lengths stayed consistent, and he mixed pace without losing control. His wickets covered different methods: caught in the ring, miscues, a glove behind, and pressure-induced errors.

Bowling coach Bharat Arun would have noted how clearly the plans were executed. On a surface where others were tidy, Mohsin was decisive. The result is a five-wicket haul that has left KKR at 73 for 6 and the game heavily tilted in Lucknow’s favour.
