Although Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were forced to withdraw from the event due to injuries, Mohammed Shami’s exclusion from the squad was the biggest surprise. Notably, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel’s injuries have forced them to be ruled out of this tournament. Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and Deepak Chahar will be travelling with the squad as the standby players.
Harsha Bhogle, a renowned cricket analyst and commentator, kept his word in favour of Mohammed Shami and said that Shami’s exclusion was an unfortunate move and that India was looking for another death bowler specialist, therefore Arshdeep Singh’s selection was reasonable.
“This means, and I am not sure I agree with it, that Shami isn’t part of the plans. They are looking at another death bowler to accompany Bumrah and that is where Arshdeep gets the nod,” tweeted Harsha Bhogle.
So we have a very clear idea of what the team for the #icct20worldcup will be. Bumrah will come in for one of the spinners for whom the #AsiaCup will be an audition. And they will look closely at Chahar in Zimbabwe for the 4th pacer's slot
