Pitch report: Grass covering with early movement; 180–190 could be par score, says Simon Doull
The pitch at Sheikh Zayed Stadium looks fantastic with a good grass covering, expected to aid stroke play. There will be some movement with the new ball, but not much turn on offer. Bowlers will need to stick to Test match lines and lengths, with the breeze likely to bring slips into play. Simon Doull suggests Sri Lanka would need around 180–190 to be slightly above par, though the target won’t be unchaseable.

Pakistan have won the toss and opted to field first against Sri Lanka in the Super Fours clash of the Asia Cup 2025 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
Salman Agha (Pakistan captain): “We will bowl first. Looks a good wicket, don’t think it will change much. We want to improve with the bat and ball. It’s a new game, a new challenge. We want to focus on today. No changes.”
Charith Asalanka (Sri Lanka captain): “I would have done the same thing. It looks a good pitch, don’t mind batting first. We are playing good cricket, but we need to improve in a few areas, especially batting and bowling at the depth. There are two changes — Theekshana and Karunaratne are in. We thought we might need one extra bowler, that’s why we brought in a bowler who can bat.”
