Friday, Nov 7: The much-anticipated Pool B clash between England and Australia at the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 has been delayed due to persistent rain at the Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok.
The start of play was initially scheduled for 4:30 PM local time (2 PM IST), but a steady drizzle has forced officials to keep the covers on. The ground staff are on standby, though conditions continue to look gloomy.
Earlier, Australia won the toss and opted to bat first, but play could not commence as the rain intensified.
England’s earlier fixture against UAE was also washed out, while Australia began their campaign in dominant fashion, chasing down 87 runs in just 3 overs in their opening game.
Both sides feature a strong mix of experience and young talent. England’s squad includes Joe Denly (captain), Thomas Aspinwall (wicketkeeper), and Dan Mousley, while Australia are led by Alex Ross, with Ben McDermott handling wicketkeeping duties.
Fans will be hoping for a break in the weather soon so that play can resume in this marquee clash between two power-packed lineups.
