Brisbane Heat etched their name into Big Bash League history on Friday night after pulling off the highest successful run chase in BBL history, chasing down a daunting target of 258 against the Perth Scorchers at The Gabba.

Batting first, Perth Scorchers piled up a massive 257 for 6 in their 20 overs, driven by explosive knocks from Finn Allen (79 off 38 balls) and Cooper Connolly (77 off 37). It was the highest total of the 2025–26 season so far and appeared well beyond reach, even by T20 standards.

However, Brisbane Heat produced a remarkable response under pressure. The chase was anchored by a sensational innings from Jack Wildermuth, who smashed an unbeaten 110 off just 54 balls. He combined brute force with composure, striking nine sixes and five fours as wickets fell around him.

With tension peaking in the closing stages, Brisbane Heat crossed the line at 258 for 2 in 19.5 overs, sealing an eight-wicket victory. In the process, they eclipsed the previous Big Bash League record chase of 230 and registered one of the highest successful run chases in T20 cricket history.

The landmark chase now stands as:

  • Highest successful run chase in Big Bash League history: 258 – Brisbane Heat vs Perth Scorchers (2025–26)
  • One of the highest successful run chases across all recognised T20 matches

For Perth Scorchers, the defeat was a bitter blow after setting a near-perfect batting platform. For Brisbane Heat, it was a night of history, momentum, and belief — a chase that will be remembered as one of the greatest ever witnessed in the Big Bash League.
