The two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka is going to start from March 4. Earlier, the team’s vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah has given a big update on the fitness of star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
Bumrah said that Ashwin is recovering well from his injury and he looked fit during practice ahead of the Test series.
R Ashwin missed the limited overs series against West Indies and Sri Lanka due to injury. The first Test between India and Sri Lanka will be played from March 4 at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Ashwin is batting, bowling and fielding
In the press conference from Mohali Test, Bumrah said as reported by Crictracker, “Test team has already reached here (Mohali) and is practicing. Ashwin has recovered from injury. I don’t know if they have any problem now. He looked fit in the practice session. He practiced bowling, batting and fielding. So I think he is in good shape.”
Jasprit Bumrah has been made the vice-captain of the team for the Sri Lanka Test series. According to the fast bowler, being a senior player, you have to help fellow players. I have said earlier also that the vice-captaincy is only a position.
“I will try to give my best in any capacity. I don’t think any position should matter or a bowler or a batsman will make a difference, it depends on how you deal with situations and how strong you are strategically,” he further added.
