The Pakistan cricket board (PCB) announced the retirement of the all-rounder Hammad Azam and fast bowler Ehsan Adil on July 9, 2023. Both the Pakistani cricketers will feature in the major league cricket (MLC) and will represent the MI New York which the owners of the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians own.

Hammad started his cricket career in Pakistan then he shifted to the USA because of the lack of opportunities in Pakistan. Ehsan made his Test debut in February 2013 against South Africa, played two more test matches and 6 ODIs till 2015, and took 5 and 4 wickets in the two formats, respectively. Ehsan played in the 2010 U-19 World Cup and Hammad played in the 2012 U-19 World Cup in Australia.

Being a part of the MI New York Hammad said that, “This is the biggest franchise in the world, I can say, and I am really happy to be a part of it. I was quiet but feeling happy now. We have been looking towards this franchise for the last 12 to 13 years. It was the first franchise when I started playing back then, so of course, all the boys and I are quite excited”.
