Carrara Oval, Queensland (November 6, 2025):
India surprised fans in the fourth T20I against Australia by promoting Shivam Dube to No.3, a major shift from his lower-order role earlier in the series.
In the 2nd T20I, Dube batted at No.8, coming in during the final overs to provide finishing power. In the 3rd T20I, he was listed at No.7 but didn’t get a chance to bat. However, in the 4th T20I, he walked in just one down after Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal in the seventh over, marking a complete reshuffle of his batting position.
The move appeared to be a tactical call from captain Suryakumar Yadav, allowing Dube more time in the middle to test his adaptability and build confidence ahead of the final game.
Dube’s promotion signals India’s intent to experiment with batting flexibility — giving the all-rounder a bigger role beyond his usual finishing duties.
