The great season of IPL which served its purpose on both ends, by providing great entertainment as well as glimpses of great future players in making has now come to an end. Leaving BCCI decided to take a major decision regarding the coach of the Indian team keeping in mind the future of the current starts and the one in making. According to reports of TOI, a meeting was held between BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, Jay Shah, who tried to persuade Rahul Dravid to take over the mantel of the coach of the Indian Cricket team.

Ever since Ravi Shastri has made it clear on several occasions and platforms, that he will not continue as the coach of the Indian Cricket team post-T20 World Cup 2021, a great buzz has been going around over who will be the next coach. And everyone will agree that Dravid is the best candidate for this position. There are several small reasons, but one of the biggest reasons why everyone wants to see Dravid as the coach is because of the great work he has done with the U-19 team over the years. It was under his guidance the Indian U19 team became the runner-up of the 2016 edition and won the 2018 edition of the tournament. This is a great proof of his capabilities because players like Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Mahipal Lomror, Washington Sundar, Shubhman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, and many more talented players who eventually made it to the senior team have already been trained by Dravid.

BCCI has decided to offer Dravid a two-year contract. It also has been confirmed by the sources of TOI, that Paras Mhambrey will be taking up the duty of bowling coach, while the batting and fielding coaches remain the same.
