The first Test in Manchester had an exciting finish to the day as the England were chasing a target of 277 with the upper order of the Batsmen falling short on their part the Onus was on the middle order and boy oh boy the lads delivered.
It was the heroics of Chris Woakes who scored 84*(120) and the wicket keeper batsmen Jos Buttler who contributed 75 (101) the duo formed a strong base to launch the team towards the victory and have an edge over Pakistan in the 3 match Test series, with England slumping at 117-5 the duo attacked the ball well and held their crease, In a finals twists and turns of the game Buttler was eventually lbw by the spinner Yasir Shah ending his resurgent run at 75.
But the job was well done by Buttler as the home team needed only 21 runs for the victory after his departure while Buttler was done at 75 Chris Woakes continued his steady run of flow and kept his calm and composure or there would be more twists in the game but it was seen off, Stuart Broad who came in after Buttler was also lbw attempting to finish the proceedings of in style with a boundary but the rest was assured by Woakes as England beat Pakistan in the Test series with a lead of 1-0.
