England’s explosive opening pair of Jos Buttler and Philip Salt got off to a fiery start in the 2nd T20I against South Africa at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, on Thursday.
Opting to bowl first, South Africa were left stunned as Buttler reached his half-century in just 18 balls, hammering six fours and four sixes along the way. The England skipper’s blazing knock left the Proteas searching for answers, with Kagiso Rabada bearing the brunt of the assault.
At the other end, Philip Salt provided solid support, smashing 32 runs off just 11 deliveries, including six fours and a six, striking at nearly 291. Together, the duo raced England to 89 without loss in just 5.1 overs, maintaining a staggering run rate of over 17.
The partnership showcased England’s trademark aggressive batting, piling pressure on the South African bowlers right from the start.
