England who had been at 159/5 at lunch in their first innings, lost their five wickets on completion of 219, failing to achieve the set target. In the second innings, Pakistan soon lost a wicket with 20 runs at tea. Stumps called for with PAK 137-8, enjoyed a lead of 244 runs with 2 wickets. Shaheen Afridi’s caught out was the last wicket taken. Stumps called off with Mohammed Abbas and Yasir Shah on crease undefeated.
Stuart Broad was no doubt great in his performance, scoring unbeaten 29 before getting Pakistan’s wickets. Shah Masood, who battled eight hours to score best of 156 in the first innings, got duck out on a ball by Stuart Broad. The leg spinners Yasir Shah and Shadab Khan gave a good contribution from the batting side. Pakistan got tense when Babar Azam(5) and Azhar Ali (18) failed to do their best.
With two days left in the match, there’s enough time to get a result. It might now seem like Pakistan is in a better position to go 1-0 up, but England’s team can’t be taken for granted!
