ENG v IND, 4th Test: Rohit Sharma’s injury update

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma is slated to head to England on June 20 for a one-off Test followed by a white-ball series.

Rohit Sharma‘s absence from the Mumbai-bound flight to England on Thursday sparked concerns about his fitness. Rohit, on the other hand, is fully healthy and will depart for England on June 20 with few other Test players from Bangalore.

The Indian Test squad will play England in the fifth Test match from last year’s tour, which was postponed due to many COVID cases in the visitors’ camp. The match is set to take place on July 1 at Edgbaston.

Likewise, head coach Rahul Dravid will only join the squad after the current series against South Africa, which concludes on Sunday. In addition to him, current series captain Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer will go for England at the conclusion of the current series.

On Thursday morning, the Indian squad took a flight to London. Former captain Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Off-spinner R Ashwin, allrounder Ravindra Jadeja, pacers Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Prasidh Krishna, batsman Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari and wicketkeeper KS Bharat were among those aboard the aircraft to London.
