Rohit Sharma’s childhood coach Dinesh Lad expects nothing but a World Cup winning performance from his student in the 2023 edition of the game after he missed out on opportunity in last World Cup where he scored five hundreds but India lost in the Semi Finals.
Rohit Sharma was recently honoured with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, India’s Highest sporting honour.” Getting Khel Ratna is a great achievement, I should not say this but if a poor boy has talent and justifies it and has luck, then the boy can reach the sky and a living example is Rohit Sharma”.
” All that he has earned is due to his talent and hard work. My expectation is that the forth coming 50 over World Cup, Rohit should win it for India on his own ability.” Lad a popular cricket coach in Mumbai circles said on Marathi cricket chat show ” Coffee Cricket Ani Barech Kai”.
Lad shared an incident from the memory lane where he first spotted Rohit.
” There was a camp organised in Borivali, and so many matches were being organised. I had to put my school’s team and Rohit’s team came into the finals, it was a 10 over game on cement wicket, we won the game.”
” That time our school was new and I was searching for kids, the way that Rohit bowled I was impressed and thought we should take this kid into our school”.
Lad also recalls that Rohit at that time was unable to pay his school fees but Lad insisted to the school directors and his fees was waived off, lad could not have imagine the young boy growing up the be the Vice Captain of Team India at that time.
