Captian cool M.S. Dhoni: The man who won 5 cups for India

A million hearts broke when Captain Cool M.S. Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket. The captain of the Indian Cricket team from 2007 to 2016, he made numerous captaincy records and gave many gallant victories to his country.

He is the cricketer who captained India for the most number of international cricket matches and the only captain who along with his team has won three ICC trophies.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, 2007

The 2007 world cup was the time when the young  M.S. Dhoni showed the world what he is capable of.  The tournament was hosted in South Africa and was Dhoni’s first win as captain. India won the series beating Pakistan in the finals by 5 runs.

 

 

The 2010 Asia Cup

Again under the leadership of Captain cool India won the 2010 Asian Cup which was held in Sri Lanka. India won the trophy by defeating Sri Lanka by a total of 81 runs.

 

The 2016 Asia Cup

This was the sixth won for India in the Asia Cup and the second under the captaincy of Dhoni. In the entire tournament, India did not face a single defeat. India won the finals by defeating Bangladesh in the final eight wickets.

 

ICC 2011 World Cup

No cricket fan can forget this historic win for India. Surely we all jumped off our seats when our beloved captain hit the final six against Sri Lanka. India lifted the world cup again after a long wait of 28 years.

ICC Champions Trophy 2013

The ICC Champions trophy 2013 was held in England and Wales. India won the trophy second time by beating England.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s contribution to Indian cricket is immense. A lot of us are currently weeping over his retirement. Though helicopter shots have gone out of stock, Mahi will never retire from our hearts.
