Bengal’s fast-bowling trio of Mohammed Shami, Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar produced a dominant spell to bowl out Jammu and Kashmir for just 63 runs in their Group B match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite 2025–26 at the Sanosara Cricket Ground A in Rajkot on Wednesday.
Opting to bowl after winning the toss, Bengal made early inroads and never allowed Jammu and Kashmir to recover. Akash Deep led the attack with four wickets, finishing with figures of 4 for 32, while Mukesh Kumar also picked up four wickets, conceding just 16 runs. Senior pacer Mohammed Shami chipped in with two wickets, giving away only 14 runs in his six overs.
Jammu and Kashmir were bundled out in 20.4 overs, managing a run rate of just 3.05. Paras Dogra was the top scorer with 19 runs, but no batter could offer sustained resistance as wickets fell at regular intervals.
The collapse highlighted Bengal’s bowling depth, with all three frontline pacers striking consistently across phases. The combined effort of Shami, Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar accounted for all 10 wickets, setting up a commanding position for Bengal in the contest.
The low total underlined Bengal’s dominance with the ball as they looked to strengthen their position in Group B of the Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite season.
