Ben Stokes is set to achieve a significant milestone in his cricket career as he becomes the 76th player to feature in 100 Tests, marking a historic moment in the sport. Additionally, he will become the 16th player to achieve this feat for England, solidifying his place among the cricketing elite.
As Stokes takes the field on Thursday, he will join an exclusive club of players with 100 or more Test caps, with England boasting the most representatives in this category at 15, including Stokes.
Stokes’ remarkable all-round prowess is evident in his achievements, as he joins a select group of players who have amassed 5,000 runs, 100 wickets, and 100 catches in Test cricket. This esteemed list includes legends such as Garfield Sobers, Ian Botham, Carl Hooper, and Jacques Kallis. Kapil Dev, with 64 catches as a fielder, stands alongside Stokes as the only other cricketer with 5000 runs and 100 wickets in Tests.
With 197 Test wickets to his name, Stokes is on the cusp of joining Sobers and Kallis in completing a double of 6000 runs and 200 wickets in the format, further cementing his status as one of the game’s all-time greats.
