Sourav Ganguly, the present BCCI president has always been a keen admirer of the idea of having former cricketers in the coaching setup. And he has strived to achieve in every opportunity that he gets. Recently he successfully pursued Rahul Dravid to take up the mantle of the coach of the Senior Indian men’s team, after the departure of Ravi Shastri.
Now, since Dravid’s appointment as the head coach of the Indian team has left his previous position at NCA vacant, it is believed that Ganguly is asking VVS Laxman to take up the role of the head of the National Cricket Academy. ANI’s sources have reported that both the President of BCCI and Secretary Jay Shah are wanting to appoint Laxman as the new head of NCA. The source said, “Sourav and Jay both would love to have Laxman take up the NCA role. But yes, the final call obviously lies with the former Indian Cricketer as he has a young family also.” With that being said, Laxman still remains the frontrunner for the job, as he shares a special both with Dravid. If he agrees to the role, then it will be a perfect combination. Together the duo is considered to be a formidable force to reckon. They are the perfect choice to take Indian cricket forward, with so much experience and expertise at hand, Dravid and Laxman will forge the best future generation of Indian players in the coming years.
Rahul Dravid has already been announced as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. He will take up the charge from the upcoming series against New Zealand.
