The BCCI has confirmed that India will play a three-match ODI series against Australia as part of their preparations for the ODI World Cup 2023.
The series will take place after the conclusion of the Asia Cup on September 17. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also announced plans to finalize media rights by the end of August.
The ODI series holds significant importance for India as they aim to fine-tune their playing XI ahead of the World Cup. The head-to-head record shows Australia with 82 wins and India with 54 wins in their 146 ODI encounters.
India aims to deliver strong performances against formidable teams such as Australia, which will boost the confidence of the World Cup squad. Additionally, India has England as their warm-up game opponents, and facing teams like Australia and England before the World Cup will prove advantageous. Furthermore, participating in the Asia Cup provides India with valuable experience against teams like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, resulting in overall benefits for the Indian team.
