
The opening batsman of India Mayank Agarwal was hit on the head following a collision with his helmet while batting in the net session. This resulted in ruling the batsman out of the first Test fixture scheduled against England beginning at Trent Bridge from August 4.
The Indian opener batsman was safe but won’t be able to take part as he indicated “signs of concussion” said a BCCI official.
“Opening batsman Mayank Agarwal was hit on the helmet while batting during India’s session at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Monday. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him, and a concussion test was conducted. He has shown signs of concussion and is ruled out of the opening Test against England,” BCCI stated.
“The 30-year-old is stable and will remain under close medical observation,” the statement further said.

As noted by news agency PTI, Agarwal was hit on the back of his head. A short ball by his teammate Mohammed Siraj during the practice session resulted in the occurrence.
In case Mayank is unable to play after the concussion test indicates so, KL Rahul can be the replacement for him as he has opened the Test matches most of the time. Abhimanyu Easwaran is considered as an option as well.
