In a powerful finish to the innings, Rovman Powell unleashed his brute strength, hammering three consecutive sixes off Tanzim Hasan Sakib in the final over as West Indies ended at 165/3 in 20 overs in the first T20I against Bangladesh at Bir Sreshtho Motiur Rahman Stadium, Chattogram.

Powell, who was earlier dropped by Tanzim, made full use of the lifeline — smashing 44 runs off 28 balls with one four and four sixes, while Shai Hope anchored the innings with an unbeaten 46 off 28 deliveries, striking at a fiery 164.29.

The pair added a quick 83-run stand off 46 balls, propelling the visitors past the 160-mark. The final over bowled by Tanzim went for 22 runs (Wd, 1, 6, 6, 6, 0, 2), turning the momentum completely in West Indies’ favour.

Among Bangladesh bowlers, Taskin Ahmed was the pick with two wickets, while Mustafizur Rahman was economical, conceding just 24 runs in four overs.

West Indies will now look to defend the total with their strong pace attack as Bangladesh prepare to chase under lights in Chattogram.
