Babar Azam breaks Gayle’s record to become the fastest batsman to score 7000 runs in T20 cricket

After scoring a century for his side last week, Babar went past Virat Kohli on the list of batsmen with maximum centuries in the T20 cricket. The Pakistani has 6 centuries in just 194 games.

The Pakistan captain and star batsman, Babar Azam has a knack for chasing records and he is at it once again. Playing in the National T20 cup match, he scored 25 runs to surpass Chris Gayle to become the fastest batsman to reach 7000 runs in T20 cricket. He has reached this landmark in just 187 innings while it took the West Indian maestro 192 to complete the same.

The right hander is a great contributor to his team on the international stage. As a result, he has scored 2204 runs out of his 7000 runs in the international format of the game alone, that too at an average of 46.89 in just 61 matches. Apart from that, the Pakistani batsman has scored 3058 runs in franchise cricket. He has appeared in 84 matches across Pakistan Super League, Caribbean Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League, and England’s Vitality blast.
