Australia’s head coach Justin Langer has spoken up on all the talks around Australian star opener David Warner’s availability who is in all the three teams to play against the Indian team.
The coach said that he won’t be expecting Warner to return before the first test on 17th December. He went on to say that the injury was pretty serious. He compared the pain to being shot by bullet. David Warner injured his groin in the second ODI against India on Sunday. The Australian team chose to bat first and scored a mammoth 389 in 50 overs. David Warner scored a crucial 83 off 77 deliveries which gave a great start to a set up a big total. In the second innings, while trying to save a run Warner dived and injured his groin in the process. He was immediately taken off the field.
CA announced that he was taken to hospital for further scans. The next day CA announced that Warner has been ruled out of the remainder of the white ball series for Australia after suffering a injury. D’Arcy Short has been named as his replacement.
The coach said that he won’t be expecting Warner to get fit fully before the first test which is on 17 December. He said that it will take a lot of pressure off him for the selection. There has been a lot of shosha around this particular topic of wheather Joe Burns will play or the young and in form batsman from Victoria Will Pucovski.
The coach added that they will be playing a few matches against the India A team which will make them get know the challenge Indian bowlers will bring going into the test series.
The first test between India and Australia will be played on 17th December which will be a day/night affair.
