India’s tour of Australia: On day 3 of 4th Test, Indian cricket found two gems. Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar stitched a phenomenal record-breaking partnership of 123 runs for 7th wicket. Their partnership saved India from collapsing and giving away the Aussies a huge lead. The duo broke a 30-year old record which was previously hold by Kapil Dev and Manoj Prabhakar. In 1991, the duo of Kapil Dev and Prabhakar had put on a 58 run stand for the 7th wicket against Australia in Brisbane.
India lost a couple of quick wickets, to begin with, The Indians managed to get starts. However, they failed it to make big. Rohit Sharma’s innings of 44 balls, was sensational, but Nathan Lyon forced Sharma to play a lofted shot in the hands of Mitchell Starc. After quick dismissals of their top and middle-order batsmen. Washington Sundar’s 62 and Shardul Thakur’s 67 saved India’s day.
Former Indian International cricketers applauded the duo for courage and composure in tough situations.
