Lyon deceived Sharma in the air, it was caught by the fielder in the deep.The Indian veteran Sunil Gavaskar seemed unhappy with Sharma’s irresponsible shot. Sharma took some time to settle in, However, Sharma threw his wicket away as he tried to attack Lyon for a big shot.
Gavaskar questioned Sharma’s decision to go for such an irresponsible shot. The Indian vice-captain had no reason to play as he has hit a boundary couple of deliveries ago.
Why? Why? Why? That’s an unbelievable shot. That’s an irresponsible shot. There’s a fielder there at long-on, there is a fielder there at square leg. You’ve just hit a boundary a couple of deliveries earlier, why would you play that shot? You’re a senior player, there’s no excuse, absolutely no excuse for this shot,” Gavaskar said on air
Earlier after winning the toss, the Aussies opted to bat first. batting first Australia finished on 369. India lost both their openers on Day 2 before the rain stopped the play. Cheteswar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane (62/2) were at the crease.
