Australia emerges victorious in the first match of the five-match T20 series against Sri Lanka. Despite Justin Langer not coaching the team, it managed to beat Sri Lanka by 20 runs.

Australia scored 149 for 9, making a very possible chase for Sri Lanka but Australian bowlers like Pat Cummins (1-32) and Adam Zampa (3-18), and Josh Hazlewood (4-12), after returning from a long-term injury, didn’t let Sri Lanka succeed who were chasing 143 to win due after one over was lost due to rain. Australia restricts Sri Lanka to 122 for 8 (19 overs).

As per AFP, Australian Captain Aaron Finch said, “Nice to get the win. I thought we had to bowl well to defend that total, it wasn’t the easiest wicket to bat on. We probably left ourselves a little bit short with the bat, but an unbelievable performance from our bowlers.

Sri Lankan skipper, Dasun Shanaka said that they had a lot of positives with the bowling and in the field, but the batsmen not being able to build a partnership became a concern.

Australia has started the series with a lead of 1-0. The second match of the five-match T20 series against Sri Lanka will be played on February 13, following the third match on February 15. The fourth match of the series will be played on February 18 and they will end the series with their last match on February 20.
