Tim David set a new record for the most sixes by an Australian batter against South Africa in a T20 International, clearing the ropes eight times during his explosive knock of 83 off 52 balls in the AUS vs SA, 1st T20I in Darwin.
The previous best was six sixes, achieved jointly by David Warner (Melbourne, 2009), David Hussey (Johannesburg, 2009), Mitchell Marsh (Durban, 2023) and Travis Head (Durban, 2023). David’s effort not only surpassed these marks but also played a crucial role in lifting Australia to 178 after they were reduced to 75/6 inside eight overs.
His innings featured a mix of brute power and clean timing, highlighted by a massive 109-metre hit that landed on the stadium roof. Despite Australia being bowled out for the first time ever by South Africa in T20Is, David’s record-breaking six-hitting display stood out as the batting highlight of the innings.
