Team India head coach Ravi Shashtri praises the players for the historic win over Australia and winning the series by 2-1. India retained the Border-Gavaskar trophy by back to back series win. Earlier they beat the host during the 2018/19 tour and both times Ravi Shashtri was the coach of India.
Australia hasn’t lost a single match since 1988 and also it was their second consecutive defeat at home against India. On this mega victory, Shashtri said he is lost of words and hailed the character of the players after a humiliating defeat in Adelaide.
” The boys have performed so well that I am lost for words. The character of this team is amazing especially after the 36 all out at Adelaide,” Shastri said after the match. The head coach further hailed the regular skipper Virat Kohli, who returned to India for the birth of his first child, and said he was with the team despite not being physically present. “This team wasn’t built overnight. Virat has been with us despite not being here. His intensity rubbed on to everyone else. Rahane might look calm but he is a strong man from the inside. A tough character,” said Shastri.
Kohli came back to India for the birth of his first child after which most of the fans and cricketers were predicting the whitewash of the Indian team but the intent shown by the players was more than the predictions. The Indian inexperienced bowling unit did a great on the field and told the world that they might have less experience but have a lot of talent and passion to win matches in any conditions.
