Australian opener David Warner has been ruled out of the first test in the Border-Gavaskar trophy. This news was announced after the third T20 between India and Australia which was won by the Aussies. India had already won the series after the second T20. India came into the third match with a 2-0 lead. The third game was won by Australia by 12 runs. Kohli knock went in vain as the Indians struggled to get over the line for a clean sweep. Shardul tried to get going but the target was just too big for him.
The test series will begin from 17th December at Adelaide. Tim Paine will lead the Australian side while Virat Kohli the Indian captain will only be available for this one test. Before even the test series began both the teams have suffered big blows as Indian all rounder Ravindra Jadeja is doubtful for the first test due to hamstring injury he suffered in the first T20 against Australia.
For Australia, the dashing opener from Sydney David Warner has been ruled out of the first test as he suffered a groin injury in the second ODI against India. This will be a big gap to fill as Warner is one of the key player in this series for Australia. In a recent interview he said that he is feeling good and fit for the tests. He added that he sti wants to be fully prepared for the series and doesn’t want any loose ends from his side during the match. Hence he is taking a 10 day time to be fully ready for the Boxing day test in Melbourne which will start from December 26.
Australian coach Justin Langer also said that Warner is crucial for the team in this series and they don’t want him to he out for long time. He added that he will be less stressed in selection process as there has been a long debate for the opener along with Warner. Will Pucovski was the lead contender for the slot but Joe Burns was the one who had experience of opening with Warner and the side was in favor of him. Now with Warner out for the first test, it will be easy for the captain and coach to select players. Will Pucovski suffered a concussion in the practice match against India A and is under treatment for the same right now. It is expected that he’ll be fit for the first test.
