India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the first three T20Is against Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Tuesday.

Reddy, who was recovering from a left quadriceps injury sustained during the second ODI in Adelaide, has now developed neck spasms, further affecting his recovery and mobility.

“The all-rounder, who was recovering from his left quadriceps injury, complained of neck spasms, which has impacted his recovery and mobility,” the BCCI said in an official statement.

Medical Supervision Ongoing

The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring his condition and will take a call on his availability for the remaining two T20Is based on his recovery progress.

Reddy’s absence comes as a setback for India, given his recent form and his growing role as a middle-order batter and medium-pace option in the white-ball setup.

Background

The India vs Australia T20I series began today at Manuka Oval, Canberra, with Australia opting to bowl first after winning the toss.
With Reddy sidelined, India may look to Shivam Dube or Axar Patel for balance in the all-rounder role.

Further updates on his return will be shared by the BCCI in due course.
