UAE pacer Junaid Siddique delivered a historic spell in the Asia Cup 2025 on Wednesday, September 17, as he led his side’s bowling attack with a fiery four-wicket haul against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Siddique returned figures of 4/18 in four overs, breaking Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s record to etch his name in the tournament’s history books.
The right-arm pacer struck in his very first over, dismissing opener Saim Ayub for a two-ball duck on the fourth delivery of the match. In his next over, he sent back Sahibzada Farhan (5 off 12 balls), leaving Pakistan’s top order in early trouble.
Junaid continued to apply pressure and picked up his third wicket in the 17th over, removing Mohammad Nawaz (4 runs). He later added another scalp to finish with sensational figures of 4/18 in four overs, becoming the first UAE pacer to dominate a full-strength Pakistan side in the Asia Cup.
This effort has now gone down as one of the best spells by a pacer in the tournament’s history, surpassing India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who previously held the record for his 5/4 against Afghanistan in Dubai (2022).
Junaid Siddique’s brilliance not only put UAE in contention during the Group A clash but also showcased the growing strength of associate cricket on the big stage.
