Australia tightened their hold on the Test on Day 3 as Travis Head continued his superb form with an unbeaten 138, while Alex Carey brought up a composed half-century to extend the hosts’ dominance in the second innings.

Carey reached his fifty off 86 balls, clipping a Will Jacks delivery through midwicket for a single, a moment that drew loud cheers from the Adelaide crowd. The wicketkeeper-batter, who had already scored a century in the first innings, once again delivered under pressure, underlining his growing importance in Australia’s middle order.

At stumps in the third session, Australia were placed at 265 for 4 in 64.2 overs in their second innings, taking their overall lead to around 350 runs. Head remained the standout performer, batting with authority and patience for his 138 off 191 balls, laced with 12 fours and two sixes.

Usman Khawaja added a steady 40, while contributions also came from Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green before England managed to claw back a couple of wickets. With plenty of batting left to come and a sizeable lead already in hand, Australia remain firmly in control of the contest heading into the next phase of the match.
