Indian Batsman, Ajinkya Rahane will play for the Mumbai side captained by Indian opening batsman, Prithvi Shaw at the Ranji Trophy 2021-22. Rahane has been facing a lot of criticism regarding the South Africa Test series for not being consistent over the past two years and now is sent back to the Ranji trophy to rejuvenate his form.
It will be a great opportunity for Rahane to up his game in the upcoming Ranji Trophy and sustain his position on the Indian side.
An MCA official states that Rahane had been consulted along with head coach Amol Mazumdar and the selection panel led by Salil Ankola to pick Shaw as the captain.
According to Cricbuzz, an MCA official said that being captain is not important for Rahane who has achieved what is considered to be impossible for a cricket captain. The 33-year-old agreed to play and also mentor the squad to regain Mumbai’s glory in domestic cricket. Rahne has no ego for captaincy nor issues regarding Shaw’s captaincy.
As far as IPL mega auction is concerned, Rahane will be a part of it, for a base price of Rs 1 cr, and let’s see if the player gets picked despite his inconsistent form at present.
