On the 8th of February, Omprakash Bakoria the State Sports Commissioner of Maharashtra wrote a letter to BCCI Secretary. In his letter to the Secretary of the BCCI, Jay Shah he wrote that the pacer Rajvardhan Hangargekar had altered his date of birth, as from 10th of January 2001 to 10th of November 2002 and thus, he was over-age at the time when he competed for India in the recently concluded Under 19 World Cup.
He also wrote that the conduct of Rajvardhan is against sports ethics and integrity. It divests the fair play, which damages the reputation of the nation. And requesting the BCCI to take strict action against the age fraud done by Rajvardhan, by the law and regulations.
That letter has also been marked to Riyaz Bagban, who is the secretary of the Cricket Association of Maharashtra.
The Commissioner, Omprakash claimed that the School made corrections to the date of birth of Rajvardhan, which are unauthorized. As time when Rajvardhan Started his Schooling at Teran Public School of Osmanabad, he took admission in standard 1st. The provided date of birth at that time was 10/01/2001 which continued till Standard 7th. The records are being changed by the Head Master of the school. At the time of fresh application for admission to 8th standard.
Rajvardhan Hangargekar, last week was bought by Chennai Super Kings with the amount of INR 1.5 Crore for the IPL at the IPL 2022 mega auction.
