The first semi-final of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 produced one of the most dramatic finishes of the tournament as India A and Bangladesh A finished level on 194, taking the contest into a Super Over in Doha.
India A, chasing 195, needed 3 runs off the final ball with Harsh Dubey on strike. Rakibul Hasan delivered a full ball outside off, which Dubey mistimed to long-on. What followed was complete chaos.
The batters scrambled for two runs, and the throw came to the keeper. Bangladesh seemed to have the situation under control, but a shocking misjudgment from wicketkeeper Akbar Ali turned the game on its head. Instead of attempting a run-out after receiving the throw, Akbar lobbed the ball under-arm and missed the stumps, allowing India to complete a third run, tying the scores.
The Indian dugout erupted in celebration as Nehal Wadhera, who was coming back for the second run, sprinted hard to complete the all-important third run. Bangladesh players later informed Akbar that only two runs were needed to win—adding to the heartbreak.
The match, tied at 194/6 in 20 overs each, headed into a Super Over with tension at its peak. For Bangladesh, Rakibul Hasan finished with 2 for 39, while Nehal Wadhera’s crucial 32(29) kept India alive until the final-ball madness.
A Super Over was underway as both teams regrouped after the emotional roller-coaster that forced a dramatic playoff.
