Odisha Open: Kiran George into the semis, beats 3rd seed Subhankar Dey

On Friday, Indian badminton player, Kiran George thrashes Subhankar Dey and makes his reach to the semis, While Malvika Bansod enters the last four in the women’s singles of the Odisha Open.

Kiran beats 3rd seed Subhankar Dey by 21-16, 10-21, 21-19. The 21-year-old will now clash with the winner of another quarterfinal played between Ansal Yadav and Tharun Mannepalli.

Fifth seed Ashmita Chaliha has also set up her place in the last four of the women’s singles, where she will clash with her compatriot Smit Toshniwal who had beaten USA’s Ishika Jaiswal by 8-21, 21-9, 21-14.

At another women’s singles quarterfinals breezes off her compatriot Samiya Imaaq Farooqi by 21-10, 21-15 in just 26 minutes. She is now all set to go one on one with Malvika Bansod in the semifinals.

Mithun Manjunath who had won against seventh seed June Wei Cheam of Malaysia on Thursday was beaten up by Priyanshu Rajawat 21-13, 14-21, 8-21 in 51 minutes at the men’s singles quarterfinal match.

In the mixed doubles event, three Indian pairings, MR Arjun -Treesa Jolly, Balkeshari Yadav-Swetaparna Panda, and Mauryan Kathiravan- Kuham Balashri have reached the semifinals.
