India Open: Satwik-Chirag cruise into semis


New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwik Sairaj and Chirag Shetty cruised into semifinal of the India Open super 500 tournament here on Friday.

Satwik and Chirag registered 21-18, 21-18 straight sets victory over Singaporean pair of Hee Yong Kai Terry and Loh Kean Hean.

The Indian duo, who are seeded second, will be up against sixth seed French pair of Fabien Delur and William Villenger in the semifinal.

In women’s doubles, Haritha Harinarayanan and Ashna Roy defeated their compatriot Rudrani Jaiswal and Jamaludeen Anees Kowsar 21-16, 21-16 and sealed their spot in the semifinal.

In other match, Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam lost 14-21, 18-21 to Russian duo of Ekaterina Malkova and Anastasiia Shapovalova.

Another women’s doubles pair of Deeksha Choudhary and Yashica Jakhar bowed out after losing 8-21, 3-21 to fourth seed Thai pair of Benyapa Aimsaard and Nuntakarn Aimsaard.
