AEW aka All Elite Wrestling has done the impossible. They have surpassed all of the other major wrestling shows in the history of professional wrestling. They have beaten SummerSlam 1992, WrestleMania 32, and many other shows when it comes to ticket sales. It is a great time to be a wrestling fan because history is being made right in front of our eyes.
Comparing The Scale of the Show
The latest figures say that 80,846 tickets have been sold, which makes it the biggest wrestling show ever. It has officially surpassed the previous record holder in WrestleMania 32. To compare it to previous events in Wembley Stadium, where AEW All In will take place, recently The Weekend sold about 87,000 tickets at Wembley. The scale is massive, and there are a few hundred tickets left so the show can reach up to like 85,000 people attending. It is even better than the capacity of Atatürk Olympic Stadium where the City vs Inter match was happening.
The fact that we can even compare a wrestling show to events like soccer matches or concerts is insane, and many people doubted in the possibility of All Elite Wrestling Selling even 40,000 tickets, and they have doubled that number. With only a few days to the show left, it is unsure if all the tickets available will be sold, but the record has officially been broken.
All In a Huge Success
It is worth noting that the re-sale numbers are also very low with under 2000, which means that the vast majority of the tickets were bought by actual viewers and not scammers or scalpers. In addition to that, what makes it an even bigger success than it already seems is the fact that AEW as a promotion is only about four years long, maybe 5 if we count the first All In show in Chicago. It is unheard of, that a company these young would make such an impact around the world. It helps a lot that it is their first show outside of the United States, and also after the pandemic, which makes people even more eager to attend the spectacle of the event.
Matches Announced for All In
So far, we have nine matches announced officially, with probably a few more for the Zero Hour that takes place right before the show. Zero Hour is a free hour of appetizers before the PPV that you can watch for free even on YouTube.
The main storyline throughout the show will be the MJF vs Adam Cole tension. The show will open with their Tag Team bout against Aussie Open for the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships. The show will in fact end with the match between members of the first team in MJF vs. Adam Cole. It has been the hottest storyline in AEW for the last few weeks and it only makes sense to focus your whole show around it.
Next, we have a Tag Team match, the third in the series in FTR vs. The Young Bucks’ This match still is uncertain due to the recent real-life arrest of one of the members of the FTR tag team. We might have to get a replacement for the FTR and crown the Interim AEW World Tag Team Champions. We could see Jeff Jarret, Jay Lethal, or Satnam Singh (one of the best Indian wrestlers in AEW) after the recent victory of Dynamite challenge The Young Bucks instead.
Our main women’s match is a four-way match between the champ Hikaru Shida, Toni Storm, Saraya, and Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. The plans have seemingly been changed due to Jamie Hayter’s injury. It was hoped that she would be cleared for the show, however that is not the case so we will have this match for the AEW Women’s Championship. In addition, we are hopeful that even if she isn’t cleared to compete, she might make an appearance after the match for a stare down with the champion coming out of All In.
Then we have some chaotic multi-man matches, first Darby Allin and Sting vs. Mogul Ambassy in a Tag Team Coffin match. It is shaping up to be a pretty weird but fun match, where the only way to win is to put your opponent inside the coffin. After that we have Golden Elite vs Konosuke Takeshita and Bullet Club Gold. It is the match featuring Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, Kota Ibushi and Jay White so the action should be top-notch.
For the most bonkers match of the night, we will have to look at the Stadium Stampede match. A 6 vs. 6 bout of Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassidy, Best Friends, Penta el Zero Miedo and TBA vs. The Blackpool Combat Club and three mystery opponents. It will be violent, it will be chaotic, it will be a lot of fun seeing it live.
And the final two matches are Will Ospreay vs. Chris Jericho, a match that is on the lower side of excitement but should be a fun match nonetheless, even though we could think of like 10 or 20 more interesting opponents for Will Ospreay, but it will give him exposure to fans that aren’t that familiar with his work. Now last match is set to be for the “Real World Championship” between lifetime rivals Samoa Joe and CM Punk. The show is on the horizon, and we cannot wait to see what unfolds on it.
