Abhishek Sharma ends lean run with 18-ball fifty as SRH race to 84 in five overs
Abhishek Sharma put his recent poor form behind him with a sharp return, reaching a half-century in just 18 balls to give Sunrisers Hyderabad a strong start against Punjab Kings.
He attacked from the outset, taking on the new ball and not allowing the bowlers to settle. His fifty came with a six off Vijaykumar Vyshak, as he picked the slower delivery early and cleared the ropes with ease. The left-hander followed it with another six, staying deep in the crease and swinging through the line.
SRH reached 78 without loss in 4.5 overs, with Abhishek on 53 off 19 balls. Alongside him, Travis Head provided support, but the innings was driven by Abhishek’s intent and clean hitting.
Arshdeep targeted as SRH dominate powerplay
Punjab Kings struggled for control early, especially in the over from Arshdeep Singh, which went for 24 runs. Abhishek took full advantage of loose lines and variations, hitting boundaries and sixes to shift momentum quickly.
By the end of five overs, SRH had raced to 84 without loss, with Abhishek unbeaten on 59 from 20 balls, including six sixes. The opening stand of 84 runs came off just 30 deliveries, putting Punjab on the back foot.
The aggressive approach from Abhishek not only erased concerns over his recent form but also set up a strong platform for a big total in the afternoon game.
