PharmEasy, a leading digital healthcare platform, has released a report titled “Dengue: The Silent Threat of the Monsoon Season”, based on an analysis of over 1.2 lakh diagnostic tests conducted across India between April 2022 and December 2024.
The report highlights a shift in testing trends, with people now seeking dengue tests as early as May—one month earlier than in previous years.
Dengue positivity rates differ across states, the report shows. Bihar (17.51%), Haryana (15.43%), and Chandigarh (15.09%) lead the chart, while Maharashtra (5.51%) and Karnataka (6.26%) remain on the lower side, reflecting the benefits of early testing and public health measures.
The findings reveal that individuals aged 11–30 are the most likely to test positive. Among patients, men under 50 showed higher positivity rates, while women above 50 were more prone to severe complications.
Most cases were reported between August and October, when high humidity (60–78%) and temperatures above 27°C created ideal breeding conditions for Aedes mosquitoes. The study also noted that Google searches related to dengue spiked in parallel with rising case numbers, reflecting heightened public concern.
PharmEasy’s article highlights the need of targeted interventions in high-incidence states, enhanced disease surveillance, and a greater focus on vulnerable groups. Suggested preventive steps include using repellents, wearing protective clothing, eliminating stagnant water, and installing window nets or screens.
As cases continue to rise, early testing and timely care remain critical in reducing complications. PharmEasy aims to raise awareness and empower individuals to take preventive steps for a safer monsoon season.
